Congrats Sean!

All-state Jazz Band participant

The Indiana All-State Jazz Band ...

... is comprised of 22 of Indiana's finest high school jazz musicians each selected by audition after competing against hundreds of applicants. Auditions for this elite band were held last fall at ten different sites throughout the state of Indiana.  Only two drummers are chosen to perform with the Band and Sean Parr was selected as one of "best of the best".

The All-State Jazz Band is assembled once a year and rehearses for only a few days before performing a full length concert on the third day as part of the Indiana Music Educators Association Conference, which was held at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne this year.  The program included professional arrangements written by some of the industry's most notable composers. The guest conductor for this year's jazz band was Doug Beach, director of Jazz Studies at Elmhurst Colege in Illinois, and well-known composer/arranger.

This year's performance took place on Friday, January 20th in the Allen County Public Library downtown at 2:30 PM. Several students from the Charger Pride attended the concert along with band director Richard Karkosky to see Sean Parr reflect credit upon Carroll High School, its music program, and his teachers while performing for this prestigious All-State event.

Congratulations Sean, on this fantastic achievement!
