Advanced Concert Band: The Advanced Concert Band is our advanced level performing concert ensemble. Each student is expected to continue the development of advanced techniques and musicianship as we study, rehearse, and perform advanced level concert literature. The performance opportunities in which we utilize these skills are required. This course should be only for the serious music student. A musical audition is required for placement into this band. On Friday, Dec. 14th and Saturday, Dec. 15th, the Carroll High School Fine Arts Departments consisting of the Band and Choir's presented the 2007 "Winter Extravaganza" at the Carroll large auditorium. The concert's featured the Jazz Band 1 and the Advanced Band along with some additional small band Ensemble's during the opening act, then several selections featuring the combined bands and choirs in the second act.. Thanks to all the wonderful performances by both the band and choir members who made for a memorable event. Also a big thank you to Band Director Dick Karkosky and Choir Director Jill Jeran for their work on putting together this huge event. CARROLL CONCERT BAND'S PERFORM AT FINE ARTS NIGHT The Carroll Concert Band's performed on May 16th at the large auditorium at the high school as part of Fine Arts Night. The Beginning Concert Band performed music from "Beauty And The Beast" and an "Instant Swing Concert". The Intermediate Concert Band performed "Eternal Peaks", while the Advanced Band closed the evening with "Nilesdance". Mr. K also handed out achievement plaques to the 39 graduating Senior Band students.

QUALIFYING EVENT AT PENN
The Carroll Advanced Concert Band performed on April 28th at Penn High School in the 2007 ISSMA High School Concert Organizational Contest-Group 1 State Finals Qualifying Event. They performed three pieces including "Second Suite In F", "October" and "As A Wind From The North". They were awarded a "Gold" rating for their efforts. Congratulations to Director Dick Karkosky and all of the Advanced Band students on a fine job! _________________________________________________________________________________

BAND PERFORMS IN
WINTER POPS CONCERT

On February 27th, Carroll's Winter Pops Concert 2 took place in the High School's large auditorium. The concert featured performances by Jazz Band 1 along with the Intermediate and Advanced Concert Bands. Jazz Band 1 opened the evening with five selections, including "Malaguefia", "Lush Life", "Four", "Nickel And Dime" and "Get In Line". The Intermediate Concert Band than performed "Highlights From King Kong", "Music From Cars", "The Chronicles Of Narnia", "Somewhere/Maria" and "Highlights from High School Musical". The Advanced Concert Band than performed "The Star Wars Epic", "October", and "Metroplex". The evening closed with the competition performances of the Winter Guard and Winter Drum Line in Carroll's main gymnasium. Thanks to Band Director Dick Karkosky and all of the Carroll Band students on a memorable evening of musical entertainment!
