Welcome to the ISSMA Solo & Ensemble event held at Carroll High School
We are looking forward to your visit to Carroll High School, and wish you well on your solo or ensemble performance!
Here are a few tips to help you with your experience:
WEAR (or bring) COMFY SHOES -- you'll be doing a lot of walking in Carroll High School!
ARRIVAL: Please park in the parking lot off of Bethel Road on the south side of the school. Enter Door # 13.

WARM-UP: You may only play your instrument or sing in the warm-up and performance rooms. NO playing in the hallways! You have been assigned a room to perform your warm-up. Your band/choir/orchestra director will have told you your room number, but if you forget, please inquire at the hospitality table just inside Door 13. We also have a lot of hospitality volunteers roaming the halls, so if you can't find your room, please ask! (It took us a long time to find our way around too!).
PERFORMANCE: Give yourself plenty of time to get to your performance room. Don't forget the following: Judge's music (must have measures numbered and should be an original, not a copy.), your music, your accompanist's music, and your instrument. A bottle of water is also helpful.
Take a deep breath and give it your all. Everyone wants you to succeed! (Yes, even the judges are pulling for you!). Don't forget to thank your accompanist and your judge when you are through.
When you finish your performance, get your Medal Issue Card and your copy of the judge's music from the door keeper of the performance room. (Your score sheet will be turned in to your director. You do not get to see it at that time.)
REWARD TIME!: Go to the Medal Table in the Commons Area and exchange your Medal Issue Card for your medal! CONGRATULATIONS! What a feeling of accomplishment! Also, make sure you check out the other tables in the area. We have representatives from many of the music stores in Fort Wayne who would love to talk with you; you can buy a carnation for you or a special one ($1); you can buy a button for the fun of it ($2)!
LET'S EAT!: Don't forget to visit the cafeteria for some yummy concessions, all reasonably priced.
