Jazz Band:
jazz and jazz related music. Students will study, listen to, and rehearse the various styles of jazz as well as the techniques of improvisation. The jazz band will perform in various required concerts and contests throughout the year. We
have three different Jazz bands-Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2, and Jazz
Band 3.
CARROLL JAZZ BAND 1 PERFORMS AT THE NORTHROP JAZZ FESTIVAL The Carroll Jazz Band 1 traveled to Fort Wayne Northrop High School on March 15th to perform in the Barry Ashton Northrop Jazz Festival Junior High and High School Jazz ensembles from were there to compete for top honors and individual soloist awards. The Carroll Jazz Band finished ninth in their category. Congratulations to Jenny Trimmer on being awarded outstanding piano soloist of the day! CARROLL JAZZ BAND 1 PERFORMS AT THE SNIDER JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Carroll Jazz Band 1 traveled to Fort Wayne Snider High School on February 9th to perform in the 18th Annual Nicholas Jazz Festival. Forty high school and middle school vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles from sixteen schools were there to compete for top honors and individual soloist awards. The Carroll Jazz Band finished sixth in their category. Congratulations to Jenny Trimmer on being awarded outstanding piano soloist of the day! Carroll Jazz Band 1 performing at the 2007 Carroll Jazz Cafe JAZZ BANDS 1, 2 AND 3 PERFORM AT THE CARROLL JAZZ CAFE On Wednesday, May 9th all three Carroll Jazz Bands performed for a sold out Jazz Cafe at the Carroll Freshman Campus. They provided an entertaining evening for all. Great job, Jazz Band students and Mr. Karkosky. Also thanks to Joan Taller and all of the parent and student volunteers for all of your help in serving the dinner.

Congratulations to the four Jazz Band 2 students who received outstanding achievement soloist awards at the festival. They are Tim Heath, John Thayer, Ben Fries, and Kyle McLellan. Congratulations to all of the Jazz band members for a job well done at Northrop!

WINTER POPS CONCERT
On February 27th, Carroll's Winter Pops Concert 2 took place in the High School's large auditorium. The concert featured performances by Jazz Band 1 along with the Intermediate and Advanced Concert Bands. Jazz Band 1 opened the evening with five selections, including "Malaguefia", "Lush Life", "Four", "Nickel And Dime" and "Get In Line".

The Carroll Jazz bands 2 and 3 along with the Carroll Beginning Concert Band played at the 2007 Winter Pops Concert Part 1 on February 12th.
CARROLL JAZZ BANDS 1 AND 2 PERFORM AT THE SNIDER JAZZ FESTIVAL The Carroll Jazz bands 1 and 2 traveled to Snider High School to compete in the 2007 Snider Jazz Festival on Saturday, February 10th. Jazz Band 1 was honored as one of the four honor bands for the day. Jazz Band 1 member Jenny Trimmer was awarded the outstanding piano soloist of the day. Congratulations to all of the Jazz band members for a job well done at Snider! ______________________________________________________________________ CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL "AN EVENING IN DECEMBER" HOLIDAY CONCERTS
The Carroll Band and Choir's performed in "An Evening In December" on December 14 and 15th in the large auditorium at Carroll High School. The concert's featured the Jazz Band 1 and the Advanced Band in the opening act, then several selections featuring the combined bands and choirs. Thanks to all the performers who made for a memorable event.
