Solo and Ensemble: Solo
and Ensemble allows students to work on music outside of the music being
worked on in band class. This music can be done individually
(solo) or with a group of friends (ensemble). These individuals
and groups then perform at the ISSMA district and state competitions.

STATE CONTEST
PERFECT SCORE! Congratulations to the Carroll High School Mallet Ensemble who received a Gold Award along with a rare perfect score at the lSSMA State Solo and Ensemble Finals at North Central High School in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 23rd. Seven Soloists and nine Ensembles traveled to North Central High School In Indianapolis on February 23rd to compete in the Indiana State School Music Association State Finals for Soloists and Ensembles. They were under the direction of Dick Karkosky. Ten Gold Awards and Five Silver Awards were brought back to Fort Wayne. This Woodwind Quartet featuring Chris Happel, Ross Quick, Heather Welch and Evan Ronan were one of nine Carroll Ensembles along with seven Soloist's which earned a Gold metal in Group 1 competition at the Wayne District Contest on January 26th. They will advance to the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at North Central High School on February 23rd.
ISSMA SOLO AND ENSEMBLE
DISTRICT CONTEST On January 26th, 146 Carroll High School Band members competed in the ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble contest at Wayne High School. They received 33 gold ratings, 22 silver ratings, and 1 bronze rating.
