Plan on attending our "Final Harrah" to the 2007-2008 Carroll Band year on Wednesday, May 20th

with a Potluck dinner in the cafeteria, then the Awards, videos and Senior Recognition in the

 JAZZ BANDS 1, 2 AND 3 

  PERFORM AT THE CARROLL

 JAZZ CAFE

On Wednesday, May 7th all three Carroll Jazz Bands performed an evening of Jazz for friends and family

at the  Carroll Freshman Campus Commons.

One of the memorable moments of the evening included an appearance by the Casey Stansifer

Jazz Combo.   Casey is a teacher at Carroll who recently started a ten member Jazz Combo.

Another highlight was the addition of Carroll Jazz Choir student Kia Miller soloing with Jazz Band 1.

Thanks to all of these groups who provided an entertaining evening for all.  The Director of Jazz Band 1 is Dick

Karkosky.  Brian Munoz directs Jazz Band 2 and Mitch Freeman is our new director of Jazz Band 3.

 Also thanks to Marsha Longardner and all of the parent and student volunteers for all of your help in

serving the dinner.

                                      Carroll Advance Band Performs at Penn High School

   CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL'S      ADVANCE BAND EARN'S GOLD AWARD AT PENN ISSMA STATE QUALIFIER

The Carroll Advanced Concert Band traveled to Penn High School in Mishawaka on

Friday, April 25th  to compete in the ISSMA State Group 1 Finals Qualifying Event Contest.   The

Advance Band performed three Group 1 pieces.  They were "From the Eye of the Storm", 

 "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" and "Colossus of Columbia".

The Advanced Band was awarded a Gold Award by ISSMA judges.

and  all of the Carroll Advanced Band students earning a  Gold Award!

                                         Carroll Intermediate Band Performs at Snider High School

     CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL'S

  BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE     CONCERT BANDS EARN GOLD AT
 SNIDER DISTRICT CONTEST

The Carroll Beginning and Intermediate Bands traveled to Snider High School in Fort Wayne on

Friday, April 18th at 5:00 PM to compete in the ISSMA District Organizational Contest.   The

Beginning Band performed three Group 4 pieces.  They were "Bouree",  "Arianova" and "Centuria" 

a video of the band's performance of "Centuria" may be seen below.  The Beginning Band was

given a Gold Award by the ISSMA judges for their performance.

Later that evening also at Snider, the Carroll Intermediate Band performed three Group 2 pieces.  

They were "Sedona", "Starlight Memories" and "Chorale And Shaker Dance".  A video of 

"Sedona" may be seen below.  The Intermediate Band was also

awarded a Gold Award by ISSMA judges.  Congratulations to Carroll Band Director Dick Karkosky

and  all of the Carroll Band students on your Gold Awards!

   DISNEY SPRING 2008 TRIP

The 2007-08 Carroll Charger Pride performed at Disney World's Magic Kingdom on April 3rd,

2008.  Here are two video's of that performance.

2008 CARROLL WINTER DRUM LINE PERFORMS AT FOURTH STRAIGHT IPA STATE FINALS AT BEN DAVIS

2008 Carroll Winter Drum Line seniors (from left to right) Gwen Feuer, Austin Barron, Andy Roets

Finals held at Ben Davis High School on Saturday, March 15th.  Twenty six Drum Line's from the

state of Indiana performed in the Class A Finals.

The 2008 Carroll Winter Drum Line traveled to Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis on  Saturday,

March 15th to perform the completed "Mic Check" winter drum line show for the last time

at the Indiana Percussion  Association State Finals with a large field of twenty six Class A

drum lines from every corner of the state.

This was the fourth consecutive year that Carroll's Winter Drum Line has made an appearance

at the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals, making it the first Carroll band activity to do so.

Carroll finished with a placement of fifteenth out of the twenty six Class A drum lines which

performed.  DeKalb High School won the Class A State Championship.

Other area school's that qualified for the finals were Bishop Dwenger who finished in tenth, and

Elmhurst who finished in twentieth.  The order of finish along with the scores in  PSA Class  :

Carroll's fifteenth place showing capped of an excellent season in which the Drum Line placed

third at the Warsaw Invitational, third at the Norwell Invitational, fourth at the Taylor Invitational and

tenth at the Franklin Central Invitational.

Congratulations to the Carroll High School students on the 2008 Winter Drum Line for another

memorable year.  They are:

and Michael Shepherd.  Basses: Danielle Peterson, Gwen Feuer, David Hein, and Joe Carpenter.

The Pit students include: Eric Barron, Amy Schwarz, Emma Gemperline, Kenny McKee, Josh Gross, Elizabeth

Mundroff, Nick  Van Meter, Evan Ronan, Colin McAllister, Chris Stillwell and Bob Geisler.

Also congratulations to our staff members on a great job of working with

the student's this year in serving as Percussion Directors.   They are:

 Jon Bay (Visual Design), Chad Gay (Battery Head Instructor),

Mike Scheele (Pit Head Instructor), David Bolzman, David Wiegmann, Stephen Clouse and John VanAntwerp.

Congratulations not only to the drum line state finalists but to all of the schools who competed in IPA this year!

CARROLL WINTER GUARD

 EARNS GOLD AWARD AT
    IHSCGA FRANKLIN CENTRAL

CLASS AA DIVISIONAL FINALS  

                              The 2008 Carroll Winter Guard completed their competitive season

on Saturday, March 8th with a performance of "Light Up The Darkness" 

 in the IHSCGA Class AA Divisional Finals at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis.

They earned a Gold rating for their performance.

Other High School Winter Guards from around the state besides Carroll to earn a Gold rating

 in Class AA include:

Bloomington North, Monrovia, New Haven, Greenwood, Evansville Memorial, New Palestine,

Plainfield, Kokomo, Fishers and Edgewood.

Other Fort Wayne area high school winter guards to earn a Silver award include: Leo, Elmhurst,

Plymouth, Wabash and Columbia City.

The Carroll Winter Guard Directors are Angie Zepeda and Monica Ealing.  They are assisted by

Kacy Bonham and Ashley Scare.  The Guard Captains are Krista Bonham, Cassie Carlson

Ellen Markley and Emily Gaylord.  Other Carroll student participants are Samantha Pickett,

Abbey Crowell, Amanda Strack, Claire Reichenbach, Kayla Kirk, Lynnze Branning, Abbey

Brinker, Katelyn Norton, Michelle Fraser, Lisa Fairchild, Emily Carpenter, Crystal McSweeney,

Liz Fink and Morgan Downs.

      ISSMA SOLO AND ENSEMBLE

                   STATE CONTEST

PERFECT SCORE!  Congratulations to the Carroll High School Mallet Ensemble who received a

Gold Award along with a rare perfect score at the lSSMA State Solo and Ensemble Finals at North

Central High School in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 23rd.  Pictured (From left to right) Mike

Seven Soloists and nine Ensembles traveled to North Central High School In Indianapolis on

February 23rd to compete in the Indiana State School Music Association State Finals for Soloists

and Ensembles.  They were under the direction of Dick Karkosky.  Ten Gold Awards and Five

 Silver Awards were brought back to Fort Wayne.

Carroll High School's Music Department has received the Indiana State School Music Associations 2006-2007

All-Music Award, one of only three Indiana high schools to earn the award.  Congratulations to Band Director

Dick Karkosky and Choral Director Jill Jeran on an outstanding job in their efforts to earn this award for our

school!
