Advanced Concert Band

This course teaches advanced instrumental techniques and musicianship through the study of a variety of repertoire. It is an active performing ensemble. During the first semester, participation in after school marching band rehearsals and performances is required and expected. During the second semester, students continue their study of instrumental music through advanced concert band literature. Required concerts include but are not limited to marching band competitions, the Huntertown Heritage Days parade, NACS Extravaganza, holiday concerts (both nights) , ISSMA organizational festival, and the spring concert. Students in advanced band are eligible to enroll for one summer band credit for rehearsals conducted over the summer months. Percussion students who were enrolled in 1st semester Instrumental Ensemble (Percussion) and are in grades 11 or 12, are required to take this course during the 2nd semester to fulfill yearlong band requirements. However, some students may be placed into other bands second semester based on instrumentation needs. 

Intermediate Concert Band

This course teaches intermediate instrumental techniques and musicianship through the study of a variety of repertoire. It is an active performing ensemble. During the first semester, participating in after school marching band rehearsals and performances is required. During the second semester, students continue their study of instrumental music through intermediate concert band literature. Required concerts include but are not limited to, marching band competitions, the Huntertown Heritage Days Parade, NACS Extravaganza, Holiday Concert (both nights) , ISSMA organizational festival, Spring Instrumental Concert, and graduation. Students the Marching Band Percussion Ensemble are eligible to enroll for one summer band credit for rehearsals conducted over the summer months.in Intermediate Band were enrolled in 1st semester Instrumental Ensemble (Percussion) and are in grades 9 or 10 are required to take this course during the 2nd semester to fulfill yearlong band requirements. However, some students may be placed into other bands second semester based on instrumentation needs. 

Beginning Concert Bands Blue and White

This course is for the wind player or percussion player that has a desire to continue learning and growing in the area of instrumental music performance but does not desire to participate in marching band. Each student will continue development of technique and musicianship. All rehearsals and performances are required. Performances include but are not limited to NACS Extravaganza, Holiday Concert (both nights) , and ISSMA organizational festival. There are two sections of this course. Students will be placed in Beginning Concert Band Blue or White based upon instrumentation needs. 

Instrumental Ensemble

This course is for all percussionists who intend to be a part of the marching band. Students take this course first semester for marching band, but are ALSO required and expected to sign up for intermediate or advanced concert band second semester to fulfill the full year band commitment. There is no audition to be in the class, but auditions will take place for placement in the drumline and front ensemble in late April or early May. In addition to the continued study of percussion techniques and musicianship, this ensemble has after-school rehearsals as part of the marching band. Students in the marching band percussion ensemble are eligible to enroll for one summer band credit for rehearsals conducted over the summer months. The marching band percussion ensemble performs with the marching band for football games, contests and participates in the Huntertown heritage days parade Percussion students are required and expected to select Intermediate (grades 9-10) or Advanced Concert Band (grades 11-12) second semester to complete their percussion studies in the concert band idiom.
